Do as I say and not as I do

Who says this waaay too much? This gal, right here.

Everyone lives crazy lives and it's easy to lose track of what's important in life. I wake up this morning and after getting the kids out the door, then dropping one off at daycare, then drive only to find myself obsessing about work and hopping on a conference call... I forget to call my husband and wish him a Happy Anniversary. Yeah, yeah, I'm human.

And apparently a bad wife who's not from Venus.

Then I thought about it... There is a huge double standard that exists where a woman expects things out of her man, but doesn't actually do them herself. As a woman, why didn't I call him first? Do I expect him to remember, though? Absolutely. So what do I do? Since we don't really have a sitter, we'll end up doing something with our kids. Well, let's make some lemonade out of lemons. The least thing I could do was slap on a little Just Being Sexy Self Tanner and some eyelashes. Men are visual. At least I'll look good when he comes home after fighting rush hour traffic.

New married people heed my advice. Actually, married people in general. Or people with kids will do. Plan a night out every once in a while with your spouse or significant other. Amidst this world that moves as fast as I can blink my fancy eyelashes in your general direction, it's easy to get caught up in the daily grind. Compliments go unsaid, date nights get overlooked and ankle biters undoubtedly suck the life force out of you like the Sith Lords they are. Do as I say and not as I do because in this economy, everyone's trying to save a dollar. Holla!

Yoda says, "With you, the force is." What I mean by that is we are all capable of finding time not to take people for granted. There is no excuse. If I haven't said it lately, you are my life force. You are my backbone. You are my everything. You annoy me from time to time, but I love you. You, sir, are my cinema. Amen. Praise baby Jesus.
