With moderation, of course.
Make up is by far the best medium to play and experiment with, simply because it's temporary. So, try something new and if you hate it wipe it off. No harm done. However, if I get an email about you wanting a hot pink lip permanently like a tattoo, I'd advise against it because you're backing yourself into a "one corner look". Furthermore, no lipliner except for maybe red will cover this hot mess up.
But, brights are where it's at this spring. To latch onto this latest craze remember this one make up principle: Pick one focus of interest on your face, always. Today the interest will be on the lip. Unless you're a rockstar or going to a rockstar's concert, I'd say follow the rule.
Try to keep eye makeup at a minimal to focus the attention to your lip. What's your minimal eye make up routine? I suggest maybe one simple eyeshadow swept from the lid up to the brow bone. Team this up with mascara and voila! You're done. But if you're a bit of a makeup diva like myself, maybe add a neutral or black liner since I feel naked without it. I'll even go as far as to say pick either the top OR the bottom lid and line it.
So, how exactly do you create a hot pink lip? Here's how... See the two looks below.
1- Start with CoverGirl Outlast lipstain in "Scarlet Pucker". Line, then fill in your lip. Using this step will give the pink a base to stand on, making it last longer & be more vibrant.
2- Next, layer Milani's Lip Flash on in "Flashy".
3- Last but not least, gloss it up with Milani's 3D Glitzy gloss in "Fashion Diva".
Now you have your anywhere drugstore look. Alternatively, try this two step look:
1- Cover Girl Outlast Lipstain in "Scarlet Pucker". 2- YSL's Golden Gloss in "No. 4". |
(YSL's golden gloss is to die for in my opinion. It's a little pricier than most other glosses out there, but hey... it's got gold in it. Once you try it and smell it, you'll be hooked.)
Luv,
~J.~
